six of one and half a dozen of the other

Today's One Point Wiki Wiki e-Xpression is an idiom, “six of one and half a dozen of the other”.

It is used to compare two things that are the same or nearly so.

“I was thinking about what to have for dinner … eat at home or go out. Hard choice, six of one or half a dozen of the other. I’ll ask Mako what she wants to do!”

We ate in our favourite restaurant yesterday, had a light dinner at home last night and we both have hay fever - so no appetite!”

Often these posts come from words or expressions students in my class need to express an idea or thought in the simplest way.
