Go to the bottom of this page for more …

Sorry our classrooms are so cold but your beautiful faces and warm hearts do a lot to keep me feeling warmed and happy!

We don't have much left to do - and I'm already expecting to miss seeing you twice a week. Presentations are coming up and will be the last 4 days of our classes. We have one test to take but that's no problem for any of you.

Submit your final presentation to me as a PDF attachment to an email. The SUBJECT of the email AND the NAME of  ATTACHMENT should be your name and student number (in English). That will make it possible for me to find it easily. We will use my iPad to show your presentations (you get to run the iPad).

Relax - it will be fun!  This exercise is more about making a pdf from a PPT than making a presentation. I think the future is in your hands and want to give you tools to make it work!

FINAL PRESENTATION

Suggestions for topics are HERE.

Directions for the final presentation:

Presentation Challenge:

Problem - How do I share my message with as many people as possible?

PowerPoint presentations give me access to very few people, require a computer to deliver and special tools to show to an audience. People in other countries may not have either. Microsoft Office costs nearly a year's pay in many countries and we can't go to small villages to make presentations.

Solution - Convert your PowerPoint presentation to .pdf and publish it on the Internet.

Virtually every cell phone in the wold is now capable of Internet connection and viewing .pdf files. This delivery system will be replacing printed books within the next few years.

Your presentation must be web ready in .pdf format.

Title page with your name, student number, course of study
White background
Black letters
Six words per line. These do NOT have to be complete sentences.
Six lines per slide.
30 point web ready font.
Arial,  (or Mac Helvetica), Verdana, Times New Roman, Georgia, Tahoma
Graphics beat text.

Presenting:

Be prepared.
Be clear.
Stand up straight.
Speak in a loud voice.
Speak about the slides - no script. Use your presentation as your notes.

Look at faces.
Speak conversationally.
Speak slowly.

Introduce yourself, then your topic:
Today I'm going to talk about ~ ~.
Give your presentation. You will have approximately 5 minutes to speak. You may not speak longer.
Today I spoke about ~ ~.
Thank you.

Take your bow and go back to your seat! You didi it!

Don't forget to check the calendar as well as the syllabus and remember to bring your review task answer sheets to class!
